Preparations for Possible School Closure
Due to the current situation regarding Coronavirus, we at RCS have been preparing for instructional delivery in the event schools have to be closed. We hope this does not happen, but we will always put the safety and well being of our students and staff first.
If schools have to be closed, our teachers will use Canvas to deliver instruction and assignments to our students. We are fortunate that all of our students have Chromebooks and are familiar with using the Canvas platform.
Teachers can upload videos of their instruction and place assignments on Canvas for the students to access. All assignments will have a due date that the work must be completed by. Teachers will also post specific times they will be available if students have questions about the instruction or the assignment.
We hope we do not have to use our distance learning plan, but our staff is prepared to do so if we have to close schools.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

RCS High School Curriculum Night Tonight
Before high school students begin registering for classes, RCS will offer a High School Curriculum Night tonight, Tuesday, March 10, at 6 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room. Parents and students will be able to ask if CP, Honors or AP classes are best, and find out how to prepare for the opportunity to take PPC classes. Students and parents will also learn which electives are available, and much more. Students and parents will also have a chance to meet the high school staff and ask questions. Rising ninth graders are highly encouraged to attend, but rising 10th -12th graders are welcome as well. Please join us for this pre-registration event.
Volunteer Cross Country Coach Needed
RCS seeks a knowledgeable, passionate, and experienced coach to help build our Bulldog athletic programs. Successful candidates must enjoy working with student-athletes, possess the ability to take initiative, and demonstrate a strong work ethic while maintaining a positive attitude. We currently have a vacancy for a Head Cross Country Coach. Contact Melinda Goodson or Pete Tuck, Athletic Directors, at 336-597-0020, ext. 426/428. Please send an email of interest and/or resume to goodsonmf@roxborocommunityschool.org.

Healthy Reminder
We are still experiencing cases of flu, strep throat and flu-like illnesses. As a reminder, please follow these basic rules to prevent the spread of these and other illnesses.

Use the RCS App to Name the Bulldog!
Now parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and all Bulldog supporters can easily vote on the name they think best suits the Roxboro Community School Bulldog mascot. Simply open the app and click "Name the Bulldog" you will be taken to a page with a dropdown menu. Choose either Cotton, Roxy or Ruckus, and make a donation of at least $1 via PayPal or credit/debit card. We will get a record of donations for each name, and will officially announce our mascot's moniker on March 20. Students may continue to vote by dropping quarters in the jars as they come in to school this week. Next week, jars will be set up in the lobby during both lunches, for those who wish to have their say in Naming the Bulldog.

Let's Name the Bulldog!
School and sports team mascots always have a name -- right? Think Tuffy and Mr. and Mrs. Wuf at NC State. Rameses at UNC-Chapel Hill. Cocky at the University of South Carolina. And, Uga, the University of Georgia's Bulldog mascot. Sooooooo ..... what's the name of the RCS Bulldog? We don't know! We need your help to Name the Bulldog! Voting will begin Monday, February 24. Jars will be set up at the front and rear entrances, and for 25 cents, students can cast their votes for Roxy, Ruckus or Cotton -- three names suggested by RCS staff. Parents, students and others will soon be able to vote online as well. More information on that next week. Come on, everyone -- help us name our RCS Bulldog!
