The Dining Hall can not operate without the help of volunteers. Parents and grandparents are needed between 10:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. daily to serve RCS students. We need a minimum of three volunteers per day and helping out offers an easy way to fulfill volunteer hour requirements. RCS will be closed Monday, January 17, for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. Classes will resume Tuesday, January 18.

Last weekend, band students across North Carolina auditioned for their district honor bands. Two band students from RCS auditioned for the Central District Honor Band and were selected to participate. Both of these students spent many hours practicing scales and music in preparation for this audition, according to RCS Band Director Valerie Smith.
Alexis Butler, seventh grade flute, was chosen to participate in the Central District Middle School Concert Band.
Nicholas Keizer, 11th grade trombone, was chosen to participate in the Central District High School 11-12 Honor Band.
Alexis and Nicholas will participate in their honor band clinic on January 28 and 29. Alexis will perform with the middle school honor band on Saturday, January 29 at the Durham School of the Arts at 2 pm. Nicholas will perform with the 11-12 honor band at North Carolina School of Science and Math in Durham at 4 pm. Congratulations Alexis and Nicholas! We are #bulldogproud!
