Student Spotlights

Here are this week’s student spotlights!

Middle School

Carly Kimbro

This week’s middle school student spotlight is seventh grader, Carly Kimbro. She was nominated by the seventh grade teachers because she always has a smile on her face and strives to be the best person and student she can be.  “Carly always gives 150%,” her teachers said.  “She is polite, kind and respectful to peers and teachers. She supports her peers in times of need and is always willing to lend a helping hand. It is a pleasure to know and teach her.” Math boost teacher, Katie DeVillier also added “She advocates for herself and wants to better herself as a student and person.”

Kimbrough said she was honored to be the spotlight, saying that she did not expect something like this. She said her favorite subjects are social studies and math. Kimbrough also said that she likes RCS because her teachers provide things like rewards days, which are days when classes get special rewards like a party or something fun for their hard work.

High School

Faith Bailey

This week’s high school student spotlight is ninth grader, Faith Bailey. Bailey was nominated by Principal Martin for being a great student and student-athlete. “She is always smiling and quick to offer a hello,” Martin said. “She is kind to her friends and helpful to her teachers. She also gives her all on the basketball court.” Math I teacher, Amanda Carter said that Bailey is a sweet student to both her teachers and her peers. World history teacher, Dennis Abline said, “she is so funny and serious at the same time.”

Along with taking all honors classes, Bailey is a member of the debate club, Beta club, student council, HOSA and the women’s basketball team. She even is involved with Seed Internships, where she does service for local organizations. Out of all her classes, Bailey said she enjoys history and biotechnology best. She said that she feels good about being chosen as the spotlight this week! “I didn’t think being just a normal person would get me here,” Bailey said.
