The Roxboro Community School (RCS) Future Farmers of America (FFA) club has organized “Jeans Day for Texas” on Sept. 1, 2017.
FFA is an organization that helps every student create a successful path in leadership, personal growth, and agriculture education.

Gina Lunsford, FFA advisor, and her students were talking about the disasters in Texas and they wanted to do something to help.
Lunsford called a good friend Ron Jeffreys to ask where to begin. Person County residents Jeffreys and Jason “Skeet” Wilborn helped out when Hurricane Matthew struck Florida.
The plan for RCS is to have a “Jeans Day for Texas.” The money made from the jeans day will go to The American Red Cross.
RCS has a jeans day approximately every other Friday. A jeans day is when the students can wear jeans but donate $2.00 that goes towards school books, sports teams, and fundraisers.
When asked if RCS will do more like this Lunsford concluded, “I feel like it’s very important for young people that are blessed, like we are here [at RCS], to give to those that suffer.”
The jeans day raised $2,530.66.
